Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura has found a solution to her struggles with Premier League side Manchester United

Nyanjura is a known United fan and is amongst those under pressure as the team looks to stumble over the line and clinch a Champions League spot.

While speaking to the KCCA Ladies Volleyball Club at a luncheon held on Thursday to celebrate the team’s first league title in 17 years, the Makerere University Woman Councillor revealed that most of her time will now be spent watching volleyball.

“I have been spending most of my free time watching Manchester United; I’m now going to spend more of that supporting the KCCA volleyball team,” Nyanjura said.

KCCA defeated Sport-S 2-0 in the three-game series to win the league, and there was excitement around City Hall.

The team had a trophy parade from MTN Omondi Stadium to KCCA headquarters before presenting the trophy to Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

Nyanjura used the opportunity to advise the victorious team to stay focused and continue to carry the KCCA flag high.

“There are very many things that divide us and very few things that unite us,” she said.

“I know for sure that this is the beginning. The wait of 17 years has been worth it.”

KCCA rewarded the team with UGX 10m as a token of appreciation.

The authority also guaranteed continued support to the team to ensure it keeps the same level of competitiveness.

Whatever performances United puts up now, one of their fans will have most of her attention elsewhere, far away from the Premier League.
