SDT Chairman John Ohaga also ruled that branch elections should be held first.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National Executive Committee will remain in office longer, according to the ruling made by the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) on Friday.

Their term of office was extended by three months, meaning that the elections that were supposed to take place on Saturday, April 29, will likely be held in July.

The ruling was delivered after a case had been presented before SDT by a section of the federation officials who were against the elections due to what they deemed non-compliance with the KVF's constitution.

The officials argued that only four counties out of 47 met the requirement to participate in the elections.

On their side, KVF lawyers wanted the elections to go on as scheduled to avoid the national teams being locked out of the upcoming Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) and International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) events.

The KVF constitution states that officials elected from 47 counties participate in the election of the national office of the sport.

The ruling has since allowed the branch elections to be conducted so there can be a full house when the new election date is announced.

KVF is under Charles Nyaberi, the acting president who filled the void left by Waithaka Kioni, who passed away earlier this month.

Second Vice President David Kilundo took over Nyaberi's post as Deputy President.

KVF elections have been postponed severally as most branches had failed to comply with the Sports Act 2013.
