The victory leaves Ndejje on 29 points, three ahead of Sport-S.
Ndejje Elites have ascended to the top of the women’s National Volleyball League standings.
This is after a convincing 3-1 win over Sport-S Saturday afternoon at the Old Kampala Arena.
The defending champions did it the hard way, coming from a set down to take three straight and win their 10th game of the season.
Sport-S started as the better side and raced to a 25-18 first set triumph. But it was Ronald Kitosi’s Elites who had the last laugh, taking the next three 25-15, 25-19 and 25-23.
Malic Damulira’s troops looked set to force a decisive set but fluffed a six-point advantage to hand Ndejje the fourth frame and maximum points. The Nsambya outfit led 22-19 and were closing in on the fourth set to level matters.
A time out called by Ndejje changed things as the university side crawled back into the set with great net defence to deal with the Sport-S attack.
The victory leaves Ndejje on 29 points, three ahead of Sport-S, who remain on 26 points and now drop to second spot.
OBB fall
Just before the Elites’ 3-1 come-back win, their male counterparts Ndejje Sharks came from two sets down to defeat defending champions OBB.
OBB started the game well and troubled Ndejje’s first pass with Cosmas Apunyo serve too hot for the reception.
The win saw the Sharks move to 23 points, just one behind UCU Doves, who occupy the last playoffs spot on the ten-team log.
OBB remain on 27 points and third on the log with four games left to play.
