Okello's side Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi from Indonesia, lost 3-1 to Suntory Sunbirds in Manama, Bahrain, to fall short of gold.
Ugandan international Daudi Okello saw his chance of winning the Asian Volleyball Club Championships come down crashing after Sunday’s defeat in the final.
His side Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi from Indonesia, lost 3-1 to Suntory Sunbirds in Manama, Bahrain, to fall short of gold.
The Volleyball Cranes assistant captain had scored 24 points against Qatar Police in the semi-final and was looking to become the first Ugandan to win gold in the Asian championship.
“It was a tough game against a tough opponent who had been in the 2022 final,” Okello said after the game.

Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi is an Indonesian men's volleyball team owned by the Indonesian National Police and based in DKI Jakarta.
“But we gave a good account of ourselves, being a new team, we have made our mark and learned important lessons,” the former National Volleyball League MVP added.
Suntory took the first two sets and had Okello and his side in a spot of bother.
But the Indonesian side took the third set to get back in the game.
The Japan League Champions, however, were unstoppable, relying on Russian opposite Dmitry Aleksandrovich Muserskiy to make light work of any block and score.
About playing against a player of Muserskiy’s calibre, Okello said: “It was a great experience playing against the best player in the World. I have learned a few things from him in the two times we played against each other.”
Before Sunday’s final, the two sides had met in the Pool games and the Sunbirds still won that encounter 3-2.
Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, formed in 2022, were playing in the Club Championships for the first time and had set that target of making it into the medal bracket.
