Ahead of WrestleMania 41, Pulse Sports revisit the 10 greatest matches that have etched themselves into the history of WWE's biggest event.

WrestleMania is the pre-eminent annual event for World Wrestling Entertainment, a spectacle of professional wrestling that has captivated audiences globally since its inception in 1985.

Conceived by former WWE chairman Vince McMahon, the event quickly became the company's flagship show, a tradition held annually between mid-March and mid-April.

Its significance is such that it is often referred to as the "Super Bowl of sports entertainment", drawing massive crowds to major stadiums and generating substantial economic benefits for the host cities.

Initially broadcast via closed-circuit television, WrestleMania transitioned to pay-per-view and later to livestreaming, broadening its reach to millions of viewers worldwide.

The event is renowned for its elaborate production, featuring top wrestling talent, celebrity appearances and high-stakes matches for coveted championships.

Throughout its history, WrestleMania has been the stage for iconic moments, record-breaking attendances and the culmination of year-long storylines, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of professional wrestling culture and a major fixture in the sports entertainment calendar.

With WrestleMania 41 to be held on April 19 and 20, Pulse Sports reminisce about the top 10 fights in the event’s history, as recently revealed by the WWE

The 10 greatest WrestleMania matches ever

10. Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch (WrestleMania 35)

History was made as women main-evented WrestleMania for the first time.

In a chaotic "Winner Takes All" Triple Threat, Becky Lynch, riding a wave of unprecedented popularity as "The Man," pinned Ronda Rousey to capture both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships, cementing her place atop the industry despite a controversial finish.

9. Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage (WrestleMania VII)

Stakes were immense in this "Career Ending Match". After Savage cost Warrior the WWF Championship, their clash was intensely personal.

Warrior prevailed after surviving five Savage elbow drops, but the match is most remembered for the emotional post-match reunion between Savage and Miss Elizabeth, turning the Macho King babyface.

8. Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant (WrestleMania III)

More spectacle than technical bout, this defined an era.

In front of a colossal Pontiac Silverdome crowd, Hulk Hogan achieved the seemingly impossible, bodyslamming the previously undefeated Andre the Giant to retain the WWF Championship, creating arguably the most iconic single moment in WrestleMania history.

7. Dudley Boyz vs. Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & Christian (WrestleMania X-Seven)

The second Tables, Ladders and Chairs match (TLC II) was a breathtaking, chaotic masterpiece.

Featuring incredibly high-risk spots, including Edge spearing a hanging Jeff Hardy, and interference from Lita, Spike Dudley and Rhyno, it culminated with Edge and Christian snatching the WWF Tag Team Titles.

6. Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes (WrestleMania XL Sunday)

Cody Rhodes finally "finished the story". Under chaotic "Bloodline Rules," the match saw interference from The Usos, Solo Sikoa, John Cena, The Rock, Seth Rollins and The Undertaker.

Rhodes endured the onslaught, hitting three Cross Rhodes on Reigns to end his historic 1,316-day Undisputed WWE Universal Championship reign.

5. The Rock vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (WrestleMania X-Seven)

The Attitude Era's biggest stars collided in a brutal No Disqualification main event.

In a shocking twist capping off arguably the greatest WrestleMania ever, Austin aligned with his nemesis Vince McMahon, using a chair repeatedly to defeat The Rock for the WWF Championship, turning heel to the astonishment of the Houston crowd.

4. Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat (WrestleMania III)

Often cited as the greatest technical wrestling match in WrestleMania history, this Intercontinental Championship bout stole the show.

Fuelled by Savage injuring Steamboat's larynx months prior, the match featured incredible pacing, countless nearfalls and culminated with Steamboat capturing the title after George Steele interfered.

3. The Rock vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan (WrestleMania X8)

Billed as "Icon vs. Icon," this transcended wrestling.

The Toronto Skydome crowd unexpectedly and vociferously backed the villainous Hogan, creating an electric, unforgettable atmosphere.

The Rock adapted, playing the heel, and ultimately won, but shook Hogan's hand afterwards, facilitating Hogan's babyface turn.

2. Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (WrestleMania 13)

A brutal, bloody No DQ Submission Match that birthed a megastar and signalled the Attitude Era's dawn.

The bout featured a legendary double turn: Hart grew increasingly vicious, while Austin, bleeding profusely and locked in the Sharpshooter, refused to quit, passing out from the pain.

The events of the fight cemented Austin as the ultimate anti-hero.

1. The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania XXV)

Widely regarded as near-perfection, this clash between legends lived up to the hype.

Packed with drama, incredible nearfalls (including kickouts from the Tombstone and Sweet Chin Music) and breathtaking moments like Undertaker's terrifying dive, it ended only after Undertaker caught Michaels' moonsault attempt into a final Tombstone, extending his Streak to 17-0.

WrestleMania 41 promises a spectacular two-night event brimming with anticipated clashes.

Headlining the Sunday card, Cody Rhodes is set to lock horns with John Cena in a generational encounter.

Rhodes, still riding the wave of momentum after "finishing his story" at WrestleMania XL, faces a formidable challenge in the legendary Cena, whose heel turn at Elimination Chamber and subsequent war of words with the WWE Champion make the 16-time WWE Champion a dangerous opponent for anyone stepping into the ring.

The Saturday main event features a triple-threat match, pitting the OTC Roman Reigns against CM Punk and Seth Rollins.

The animosity between these three men has been palpable, with Punk's return and Paul Heyman opting to be in the straight edge wrestler’s corner at WM 41 adding a volatile element to the already intense rivalry between Reigns and his former Shield brother.

Another highly anticipated singles contest sees Gunther defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso.

Gunther's reign has been one of brutal efficiency, his imposing presence and hard-hitting style dismantling all challengers.

However, Jey Uso, buoyed by his newfound singles success, presents a different kind of threat, as his agility and connection with the crowd potentially provide the edge needed to dethrone the seemingly unstoppable Gunther.

In another singles match, the United States Champion, LA Knight, faces imposing challenger Jacob Fatu for the WWE United States Championship.

Knight's charismatic appeal and popularity have made him a fan favourite, but Fatu's Samoan Dynasty lineage and hard-hitting style make him a dangerous proposition.

The women's division also boasts several compelling matchups. A triple threat for the Women's World Championship sees Iyo Sky defend against Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley.

Each woman brings a unique blend of athleticism and power to the contest, promising a high-octane affair with the potential for breathtaking moments.

Elsewhere, Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair are set for a battle of second-generation stars, their pedigree and in-ring prowess suggesting a fiercely competitive encounter.

In other singles action, Jade Cargill and Naomi do battle at the Show of Shows, with Cargill keen for retribution after she was taken out for months by her opponent.

The tag team division will also be in focus, with Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defending their Women's Tag Team Championship against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
